What a great way to learn greek mythology. My boys age 9 and 12 will never look at the greek gods the same way again.
I have enjoyed every Rick Riordan book I have read.He has become a masterful writer.I greatly enjoy books that have plot, theme, and just enough reality for my imagination to impose the possibilities of reality.Rick incorporates real places with real written history to make fantastic representations of present possibilities. He is very good.I am also an adult, a parent, and a doctor.I read every day as well as my daughter and we both love his books.
Would you listen to The Battle of the Labyrinth: Percy Jackson, Book 4 again? Why?yes. We have three boys and all love the Percy Jackson series. What aspect of Jesse Bernstein’s performance would you have changed?I appreciate the desire to make different voices, but the voice for Tyson in particular is annoying - makes him sound dumb. And also, all Asian voices use broken English. As a 4th generation Chinese American, I found this to be profoundly insulting.
The book is apart of this excellent adventure, about this ADHD kid fighting his way through Greek myths. Love that they explain how other historical figures, like George Washington, are connected to the myths.
Would definitely listen to it againI love how rick riordan writes these stories to make the old myths sound back alive in the 21st century
The story was great, and the performance was good too. I felt like the narrator accidentally mixed up the voices once or twice, and I felt like two of the characters' voices were a bit over dramatic, but I found it funny. The audiobook is over 14 hours, and it's great for one of those days when you're sick in bed and you don't feel like doing anything.
I'm ready for the next book! This book is amazing because it is exciting and funny at the same time!
The narrator doesn't do a good job with the voices. It probably would have been best if he just did Percy and left the rest to someone else. Sometimes I couldn't even tell who would be talking unless they were a monster. I hate how he made Tyson sound like he was the dumbest person on the planet. And what's up with some people having random New York accents? Overall terrible. Story was good though
If the Harry Potter series is the standard, Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series is an admirable try, but still minor league. This 4th book in the series is probably his best; the story plot gets thicker and more intriguing. However, there are chapters that are adventurous but do not add to the developing plot in any way:OK for kids, but less than fulfilling for adults.Overall, a good purchase.I will read/listen to the next book.
Really great book. I enjoyed it immensely. I am an older listener, however, these books are very fun reads. Enjoyed!
