More For Scotland's Animals: Hustings Highlights

Fifteen leading animal protection organisations held a hustings ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary election, to ask representatives of main political parties how they and their party would bring progress for animals if elected. Animal lovers gathered in the City Chambers in Edinburgh to ask the speakers about the issues that mattered to them. Topics included salmon farming, bird of prey protection, electric shock collars, and animal exploitation. This video shows some of the questions and answers. The event was chaired by Roo Irvine, presenter of BBC's Bargain Hunt. The party speakers were: Helen McDade, Reform UK Joanna Mowat, Scottish Conservatives Catriona Munro, Scottish Labour Ariane Burgess, Scottish Greens Ben Macpherson, SNP The Scottish Liberal Democrats were invited but declined to send a speaker. The hustings was jointly organised by the following organisations: OneKind, A-Law, Animal Equality UK, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Blue Cross, Born Free Foundation, Cats Protection, Compassion in World Farming, Dogs Trust, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, The Humane League UK, Humane World for Animals, the League Against Cruel Sports, Scottish SPCA and the Wild Animal Welfare Committee
